Exit towards Silves with a visit to the city and its magnificent Roman Castle. Head to Monchique, with time to taste the typical drink of this zone, the local liquor “Medronho” and visit Fóia. Arriving in Portimão let's take a walk through the marina where you can have lunch and then visit the College of the Jesuits and the Fort of Santa Catarina, ending the visit in the Municipal Museum of Manuel Teixeira Gomes.
SILVES
The city of Silves is located on a hill in the Arade River, and it is thought that has been populated since prehistoric times as testified by finds of menhirs, tombs and polished stone tools. This city stands out in the production of cork and of citrus fruit, as is the case with the famous orange of the Algarve.

The Castle of Silves is the largest castle in the region of the Algarve and is one of the largest and best preserved at the national level.This castle, originally an Arab building, dates back to the 8th century. It consists of rammed earth walls covered by red stone giving it a reddish tint and it stands at the centre of a huge tank with a dome and five rounded arches.

The Cathedral of Silves, Gothic oriented has the shape of a Latin cross with a domed cruise in the crossing of its arms. It is thought that it was constructed in the 13th century over an old Arab mosque. During the reconstruction works after the 1755 earthquake new amendments were introduced where you can see the Baroque style. These changes are visible in the main façade, the south gate and the tower.
MONCHIQUE
Monchique is located in the heart of the Fóia and Picota Mountain and became known by the presence of the Romans in Caldas de Monchique. With one of the richest forests in cork oaks, eucalyptus and chestnut trees, the wood-related activities, as well as, the weaving of wool and linen, contributed to the development of Monchique. These days it is a charming town, known for its work in wood, traditional sausages and medronho brandy that can be purchased at various locations.

Fóia inserted in the Monchique Mountains is well-known for being the highest point in the Algarve with 902 m of altitude. It is an impressive natural viewpoint overlooking the Algarve and Alentejo, in a fabulous mountain and sea horizon.

The Thermal Spa at Caldas de Monchique with waters from eight springs is the only thermal complex in the Algarve. The therapeutic properties of its waters are recognized since the time of the Roman Empire for their healing power. Today, thousands of visitors are attracted by your hot, with sodium and fluorine-rich water prepared for various medical treatments.
PORTIMÃO
Portimão is a town traditionally known for being an important fishing and trading port. It is also a seaside destination much sought after by the excellent beaches, including the famous Rock Beach and the popular sardine festival that is celebrated in August. The Marina of Portimão is an ideal place for the summer, with a wide choice of bars, restaurants and nightclubs with selected environments. The Rock Beach is the liveliest area for evening entertainment, and it is also its casino that attracts visitors from all parts of the country.

The Jesuit College was built by a wealthy noble of the area and donated to the Jesuits. This 17th-century building also suffered the effects of the 1755 earthquake and was partially rebuilt. The Church in the central body of the building is the largest in the Algarve.

The Fortress of Santa Catarina, from the 17th century, was built to protect the local population from pirate attacks. It was partially rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake and is part of a chapel dedicated to St. Catarina. Situated at the entrance of the marina, overlooking the beach and the cliffs of the Rock Beach, it presents an extraordinary landscape located over the sea and the river.
